Strengthening USD

Has anyone else noticed the recent precipitous decline in th GBP and the Euro?

The GBP is now only $1.98.
The Euro is at only $1.35

Sounds good to me. The only thing that saves me in Europe is the tax and tip are already included in the bill. The U.S. stock market is really up right now. Unfortunately, some people don't realize that you can't have a war AND cut taxes.

Canada isn't such a good value now because of the 15% added tax.

how about a contest as to when the British Pound will top $2.00 psychoilogical barrier?

England is very expensive. I would consider booking England in either the off-season or getting a package deal. When you see the sign for coffee at Starbucks for Two bucks, it means Four Dollars.

Canada doesn't have a 15% VAT. There is a 7% (formerly 8%) Goods and Services Tax imposed by the federal government. Some provinces impose a sales tax, just as some states impose sales tax.

Would it be cheaper if they dropped the price 27% and then added the VAT and 15% SC?

Don't expect a big turn around in the price of the euro and the pound until the US trade deficit gets closer to being in the black. As long as we buy more than we sell, foreign currencies will be relatively expensive.

The European economy is doing well, so there is not going to be much of a chance in near term that the US economy will outperform the EU and lead to a stronger dollar.

In other words, the days of the $1.20 euro are not going to return this summer.

Quebec imposes an 8% tax on not only what you pay but on the government tax. (At least they did last year).

Locals aren't too happy about that.
