street vendors in London
Are there street vendors in london that sell faux Burberry scarves, etc., and where are they?

I'm not sure, but a trip to New York will reveal them on every midtown street corner. Makes me convinced never to buy any Burberry merchandise--I see it everywhere and no way to know if it's the real thing or a cheap rip-off.

the funniest thing I remember about the 'street vendors' <BR> <BR>scene - London sidewalk, near Oxford Street I think... a guy pops out of nowhere with a huge box of perfumes - big names, low prices. he's bellowing: <BR> <BR>"ANY BOTTLE, TEN QUID. WHOY SO CHEAP? CUZ THEY'RE BLOODY STOLEN, THAT'S WHOY" <BR> <BR>the passers-by clustered around him like pigeons on a sole breadcrumb. the box was emptied in minutes. (I didn't buy anything, for anyone who wants to get huffy on me). <BR> <BR>I LOVE LONDON!!

Beth may find these people very quaint and endearing, but to us they are a pain in the backside. By the way, the goods are mostly not stolen - they're fake. And the first people who come flocking around them are part of the gang - they pretend to buy in order to dupe stupid people into buying as well. Sorry, but I find it bizarre that you seem to find the activities of a bunch of organised criminals somehow attractive. These aren't cheeky Cockney chappies earning a few quid on the side - it is a major ugly organised racket.

I didn't say that they were quaint or endearing. I did however say that they were quite FUNNY. It still makes me giggle thinking of that scene...
