Street Parking in Lisbon- Regulations?

I'll be visiting Lisbon next week for a few days before we head to points North. I plan to pick up a rental from Auto Europe the night before our departure. We are staying in an apartment near Av. Dom Carlos I.
I know there is street parking closer to the river but I do not remember the regulations specifically overnight parking . Can anyone help me out to avoid problems?
Thanks,
tico

Hi ticotico

Night parking (after 7pm, before 8am), usually, is not payed. Neverthless, this "night" hours can be different, depending on the street you park (Av. D. Carlos I should be fine).
What you have to do is: park the car and do to the next meter. There you'll find the hours you'll have to pay.
Or, in the begining of the street there's a blue rectangular sign, indicating that is a payed street from xpm to xam.

Finding a place to park on the street may prove a challenge.

I'm not looking forward to this. At least it's only for one night. I usually avoid having a rental car in cities.
Thanks SandraPestana helpful suggestion
