Strasbourg - is this itinerary possible
 

I posted the following as part of a larger and more complicated post but have not had much luck, so I thought I would just ask this direct question.

Do you think the following itinerary is possible timewise. I am considering a day in Strasbourg en route from Paris to Zurich, but I am wondering if it might make more sense to do Strasbourg at a later time in my life when I have more time for it.

Tuesday: Leave Paris 6:44 am, get into Strasbourg 10:44 am.

Tuesday - see Cathedral, Musee d L'oeuve Notre Dame, Musee d'Art Moderne. Time permitting, St Thomas Church. Would wander quickly around Parliament area and Le Petite France if needed. Take a late boat ride (ends at 9 pm). Bed

Wednesday - see as much of Palais de Rohan as possible before 12:15 pm train to Zurich (Palais is closed Tuesday). I would definitely see the Musee de Beaux Arts and hopefully one or both of the other things there.

Is there anything that those who have been could recommend that I might be missing?

I'll pitch in with a reply by saying that I think you'll have ample time.

To me, the highlights were the Cathedral and Le Petite France and these should therefore take priority on your schedule. I too wanted to see the Parliament but found that it was on the outskirts and difficult to reach. So I didn't get there.

I'd like to go to Strasbourg too so I'm doing some looking into various ways to get there. I see there are 1 hour flights from CDG for less than what the train costs and save lot of time. We want to do the wine route so I'm thinking of getting a car in Strasbourg and spending the night there and flying back to CDG the following day. Do they rent cars for only 24 hours? Do you have any car rental suggestions?

I think your plans are fine, and you have hit the highlights. I never even saw Parliament but didn't have any particular desire to. I would put the cathedral and Palais de Rohan at the top of the list, then just wandering along the canals a bit from PEtite France back.

I've been to Strasbourg a handful of times and I agree that you have enough time to see the best of it. In four or five trips there I only saw Parliament once, and then only walked by it. It's quite "missable."

Suzanne: A 24-hour car rental is possible, but normally it costs the same as a 3- or 4-day rental, so isn't usually very cost-effective.

Is there another way to see the wine route without a car?

Thanks very much for the responses. My main concern was Wednesday and seeing Rohan, esp. the Musee de Beaux Arts, but hopefully I can get to at least that portion. I would like to see Parliament and maybe even stop inside for a session if it's on, but I probably won't have the time, and I am going to Brussels next month, so maybe I could do that then.

I will check into the flights to Strasbourg, but right now, for at least my dates, I can get one way Prem fare for 20 Euros. I am a student, so maybe that makes a difference.
