strasbourg hotels
Now that we have decided to go to Strasbourg, do any of you have suggestions for hotels you like? Our taste goes to traditional, and since we will not have a car we would like it to be interesting for walking and parking will not be a concern. We will be there for 4 nights and will take some day trips by train.

Hotel Beaucour. Loved it.Stayed there twice.Unfortunately not cheap.Don't know the exact address but they do have a web site
|
It's not traditional, but you might want to consider the Citadines Apartment Hotel. It's very central, just off Place Kléber, and you can get either a one bedroom or a studio, each of which has a kitchenette. Prices are quite reasonable.

Hotel de L'Europe is centrally located but not next to the cathedral. It is moderately priced but ask for a modern room. The half-timbered rooms have dated bathrooms.
|
We usually stay in a nearby wine village so I don't know the city hotels.
Suggestion: Click on the Hotels button at the top of this page and see what you can find. When you've narrowed it down, come back on the forum and ask about the 3 or 4 hotels that caught your fancy. You'll love Strasbourg. |
I agree Strasbourg is a hidden gem. The people are friendly, food is delicious and prices are reasonable. when I was there I stayed at the Hotel Cardinal de Rohan which was in the pedestrian area and within visibility of the great cathedral. The rooms were clean and bathroom sparking. They even included a nice breakfast with the room rate. Its not the Ritz, but its cozy and friendly. Here is the website--

We always stay at Citadines in London but the only thing one can say for it is that it's convenient and somewhat less expensive than some of the hotels. It has absolutely no character and if you get the studio the bed takes up practically the entire room once it's made up [which I also find a pain to do].Still, you can probably see one of the studios on their web www.citadines.com and see what you think.

Another vote for Hotel de Rohan; couldn't ask for better location, esp. w/o a car!
|
Thanks to all who helped. We booked the Hotel Rohan today. I will be glad to let people know how we liked it for their own future reference. Grandmere tipped the balance b/c how could I ignore the advice of someone who identifies herself w/a French screen name?

Be sure to do some research about restaurants in Strasbourg, the food is delicious!
|
Try Alsatian restaurants.
