I have used the regent contades and would recommend it highly. It is very nice hotel with great rooms. Easy walk to city center yet just far enough away to be nice and quiet. You will not go wrong with this hotel

Stayed at Hotel des Rohan near the cathedral. Loved it. Would go back tomorrow.

Have a look at the Hotels Beaucour and Maison Rouge. The Regent Contades is for business travellers and quite far away.Regent Petite France has interesting weekend rates as far as I know.

Well, Gaia, if you consider a five minute walk to center of the old city "quite far away", then perhaps this hotel would not be for you, but I find the location of the Regent Contades to be ideal. As far as for business travellers, yes that is true I guess, but in reality most 4 star hotels depend on the business traveller. However, this is an ideal hotel for holiday travel as well. You seem to be anti-contades for some reason. Did you have bad experience there or what? My stays have always been above reproach and it is my FIRST choice every time I travel to Strasbourg.

I am not anti Contades, but I still think that there are better ones in Strassbourg for tourists. As a tourist I would prefer to stay in the old part of town, and not where there is nothing around your hotel exept offices. And it takes more than 5 minutes walk to the center.

I second the vote for the Hotel des Rohan. It has comfortable rooms, friendly service and is steps from the cathedral and tons of restaurants.

http://www.hotel-rohan.com
