Strasbourg Hotel??

I've been trying (unsuccessfully so far) to find a reasonably priced, but comfortable and quaint hotel in Strasbourg. I tried de la Europe and Gutenberg so far but both were full. Anybody tried the Hotels Aux Trois Roses or l'Orangerie? Any other suggestions?

We are staying in Strasbourg for two nights as part of our itinery in August.
The website www.strasbourg.com is excellent. We were we able to see pictures of the hotels (2 - 4 stars) and get full details. We found the prices quite reasonable and booked on line to get a discount. Another feature on this site is the ability to "zoom in" on parts of the town, thus
being able to chose the location of the hotel that best suits your needs.

I agree that is a great site. That's how I found the hotel we stayed in last summer (Hotel de L'Europe). Try to find a hotel that is centrally located-either near the cathedral or petit France area. That way you'll be in easy walking distance of most attractions.

I stayed in the Hotel de l'Europe also a couple summers ago and it was great. Really nice room and extremely convenient location, which is one of the main reasons I chose it, I planned several day trips by train and wanted to be equidistant between the cathedral area and the station so I could walk, which I did. It was also very close to Petite France. It wasn't quaint at all, though, I wouldn't say, but sometimes I get tired of quaint and want a TV and nice bathroom and a large room, which I got there. So if you wanted quaint, that isn't it, anyway; it's actually a fairly large hotel, but not obscenely so. This is individual taste, I know, but I personally would warn you against any hotel very close to the cathedral and there are a couple right across from it. That place is a 24-hour zoo around there with people and fun to walk around but I can't imagine staying in a hotel right in front of it (and there is one, I forget it's name). But, if you are a night owl, that might be fine with you. I don't know anything personal about it, but my second choice was going to be the Hotel Hannong, you might consider it (www.hotel-hannong.com). It looks charming from the photos, is nice but reasonably priced and, like the de l'Europe is very well situated so you can walk to the main square, cathedral area and the train station, if that's of any interest to you. If you don't want to walk to the train station, you might want to find something closer to the cathedral, I suppose. I think I found it on the same web site others mentioned.

I am staying at the Hotel Des Arts in Sept. It has gotten some good recommendations from posters on other message boards. I am paying 350FF for the room (single) and know that it is 2 star and located in a pedestrian zone not far from the cathedral. When is your trip?
Ellen
