strasbourg france

My husband and I are on a Swiss tour in Sept. which concludes in Lucerne. I want to spend a few days in Alsace. Would you recommend all the time in Strasbourg doing day trips or other stops along the way from Lucerne? Basil, etc.?? We need to return to Zurich for our flight.
Thank you in advance for any advice.

Are you stuck with returning from Zurich - no other possible options?

As for staying in Strasbourg - in part in depends on number of days. We spent 5 nighst there: 4 days in Strasbourg (plenty to see/do: Old town, cathedral, several great museums, little Venice), one day in Colmar and one day visiting the wine villages in between. We did it by car but I think this is also doable by train - or perhaps bus for the small villages.

Riquewihr, Ribeauville

I would consider using Colmar as a base (which is closer to Zurich than is Strasbourg), and then doing day trips to places such as Strasbourg, Haut Koenigsbourg, the Wine Route, and Freiburg.
