Stranded in Iceland
The Iceland Review reports that around 1,100 people are waiting for flights at Keflavík International Airport, according to information from the airport’s information officer, Fridthór Eydal. Although ash from the volcano isn’t blowing over Keflavík, airports in Europe are closed, including London.

Many more 1000's more stuck at airports everywhere. No corner of the globe is unaffected.
|
All of Scandinavian and British airspace is closed at the moment.
|
Residents of all of Iceland are being told to stay inside, but if they must go out to wear dust masks. The ash may contain toxic chemicals. What about the rest of Europe? Are the people in danger anywhere the ash is appearing?

Oh, this brings back memories of Mt. St. Helen's.

Flights from St. Paul, New York, Boston and Toronto to Keflavik were cancelled last night - May 14 - the airline called passengers scheduled to go on the 16th and warned them that they may not be going.
I'm scheduled to fly there the 23rd but won't be packing early just in case. |
