stop in lisboa or not

Hi everyone,
Me and my wife will be spending a little over 2 weeks in may 2015 in Portugal and spain with a car . Starting the trip in Porto then heading to spain. In spain we will visit Madrid/Toledo, Andalucia, and then head to the algarve for 3 or 4 days. My question is regarding Lisbon.
Option 1 leave the Algarve for lisbon , spend a day there and fly home from lisbon or
Option 2 spend the extra days in Algarve or Andalucia white villages and fly home from faro

I think i would like to see Lisbon but will one day do it justice ,maybe just to get a taste
very confused any suggestions?

Lisbon is quite unique and has a really distinctive flair. And the historic districts are not that huge in size.
Even just a day will be good to get a taste.

Agree on a day in Lisbon. I've done that a few times now on the way to or back from the Algarve, and it adds a nice accent, and that is all the time I really need there. You might want to drop the car in the Algarve and take the train north - - the train is really pleasant, easy, and cheap. Even 1st class is cheap on that route.

I would spend a day in Lisbon to get a taste of this beautiful and fascinating city,

thanks for the encouragement. i would hate to return home and regret not going to lisbon. The rail option is also something to think about. car may be cheaper considering its 2 people
