For a short stop yes Collioure is easy - Cadaaques not so straight forward - anyway I loved Colliore' French flavor and though maybe, maybe, not as stunning as Cadaques (where I have never been) it is much much easier on a quick tour - direct trains.

We are travelling in October. We are actually spending 21 days on the ground travelling through France and Spain. The question i asked above was only referencing a part of our trip. I also stated above that we ideally would like to stop in a town rather than a city - i did not say that cities were out of the question. If we found one that interested us enough to go there then of course we would consider it. Thanks for your help, advice is always much appreciated.


Seems like there are a lot of advocates for Collioure! I am still in the stage of researching, so i'm sure our choices will change slightly over the next few months before we book anything.

another option - the toy-like Little Yellow Train from Perpignan to La Tour de Carole - it twists thru the Pyrenees thru a lovely valley - a great relaxing day out - can walk between stations. La tour de Carole is a sleepy small village high in the Pyrenees (andorra is an easy bus ride from here should you want to add another 'country' to your list! - it also has direct trains to Barcelona via a very scenic route largely thru the Pyrenees and its foothills.
