Stolen Passport
Since my husband had his passport stolen on one of our Europe trips, may I suggest to everyone that they make a copy of the first two pages of their passport. And to keep the copies separate from the originals. Also, to carry along two passport photos, if possible. Believe me, this is probably the best advice you may receive!!

yes, and scanning the pages and sending them to yourself to an email account helps also in case EVERYTHING gets lost or stolen.

Very good advice. Also to have copies of your CC numbers & also contact numbers for them in case they're lost or stolen.
|
<<< Also to have copies of your CC numbers >>>
BUT NOT - as some people do - have copies of both sides of their cards which to a thief are manna from heaven And have the INTERNATIONAL contact numbers for them, not the 0800 which generally won't work outside the country |
BTW I would think the only pages of a passport you need a copy of are the ones with your personal details & emergency contacts
|
It may be good advice for citizens of your country - for citizens of our country, the most important pages are at the back.

Re the CC phone number:
I have found it best to get the direct phone number for the "security department" rather than the toll-free number or the international number. You need the number which BYPASSES the usual "enter your 16-digit account number" etc., etc., menu. And all those security departments definitely have a direct number. |
