Stockholm Vs Copenhagen
 

Which is better for a 2 or 3 day trip? We are young 30yr old couple traveling Europe next July and will be going to either Copenhagen or Stockholm before our trip to Croatia.

Which is more fun? Which is more charming? How many days do you suggest? We like to walk around charming cities, eat cute restaurnats enjoy nice nights at the pub some daytime sight seeing.

I heard Copenhagen is more like Amsterdam and Stockholm is more like Helsinki? Is this info true? I loved Amsterdam not for the drugs though for the charming/quaint environment and colorful friendly people. As for Helsinki it was nice but didn't wow me. Based on this what would you suggest Copenhagen or Stockholm?

We spent two weekends in Copenhagen this summer and loved it! Great atmosphere, fabulous food...all round great vibe.

We spent a weekend in Stockholm in 2011 and thought it was just ok. And VERY expensive! Copenhagen was much cheaper (although not cheap!) in our opinions.

We would go back to Copenhagen again but have little interest in revisiting Stockholm.

Copenhagen and Stockholm are both much more interesting than Helsinki, which IMHO is kind of dreary. You can easily spend 4 or 5 days in either one with a LOT to see and do and very enjoyable nightlife. I have been to both several times and would go back to either one like a shot.

Hmm … I think each city deserve more than 2 or 3 days. If I had to choose one for just 2 or 3 days and my gold was "fun" I'd probably opt for Copenhagen -- wait until you can give Stockholm a bit longer.

Are you fully committed to one of these locations? There are so many worthy destinations in and around Croatia….

I preferred Copenhagen to Stockholm: it seemed a little more mysterious and edgier. I came home and looked at my house completely differently after being exposed to Danish design for a few days. Noma is one of a kind (if you can get a reservation) as is The Louisiana Museum. For Hamlet fans, there's Kronborg Castle. And Freetown Christiania is just bizarre (in a good way).

I spent four days in both Copenhagen and Stockholm, and blogged on both (www.esmetravels.com). Stockholm provided enough material for only one post; Copenhagen filled several.

I liked Stockholm but I don't think about it nearly as much as I continue to think about Copenhagen.

Copenhagen has better food. Stockholm has the appeal of the water setting. You can't go wrong with either for a short trip.

Imliked them both but will probably return to Stockholm and not Copenhagen. Stockholm was filled with wonderful places to explore and the transportation system was excellent. Loved all the ferries and we explored the archipelago as well as the city. It has a great vibe.

Interesting. When I posted a similar question a couple of years ago, the overwhelming response was to go to Stockholm. I did and I LOVED it.

I was amazed by what a beautiful city it is, and by that absolutely stunning waterfront. I kept feeling like I'd walked into an Italian Renaissance painting. Fabulous Royal Palace, and the Gama Stan area that felt like we'd stepped back centuries. I love wandering streets and looking at quaint old buildings, and I was not disappointed. There was a lot of natural beauty as well--gardens, and boat rides on the archipelago. Also, the Vasa Museum was FANTASTIC (and I didn't expect to like it.)

Yes, but this OP is only going to give whichever city only 2 or 3 days, wants to know which one is more "fun," and wants to "enjoy nice nights at the pub some daytime sight seeing." Probably not the interests you expressed when you asked, Songdoc!

Wow thanks everyone for great feedback. Yes we have to choose between the two due to our airline provider we are using its the stop over that we can make into a mini trip.

Yep.

It's $38 for a 7-ounce steak at TGI Friday's in Stockholm or $22.23 for a cheeseburger.

Obviously, I would be subjective living in Copenhagen, but it is just a nice place to visit especially in summer!
