Stockholm to Copenhagen

Arriving in Stockholm, flying out of Copenhagen....what is the best way from A to B with 3 kids and luggage? Thanks!

It is a far drive. How long you have and what time of year will certainly make a difference in my opinion? If you wanted to drive during the summer the drive could be nice. You would want to set up a rental car well in advance to get a car big enough for all of you and your luggage.
Do you want to see anything in between point A and B? If not take the train.

There aren't any Stockholm - Copenhagen ferries that I know of, so a train ride would probably be your easiest option.

It's for July...thanks to all!

X2000 ultra modern high-speed train links the two cities in a bit over 5 hours

Scandinavia trains are liable even to have kids play areas for toddlers and if you kids are old even they may enjoy this type of train ride. several a day - just book in Stockholm - no problem i would think.

Most involve a simple change of trains in Malmo and then a thrilling (to me at least) train ride over the fairly new bridge/tunnel train and accompanying road bridge - from the top of the bridge you get a sweeping vista over the sea for miles and miles and miles and...

And you can buy your tickets online at the Swedish Rail website

Flying might be cheaper and faster. Don't discount it out of hand.

We've done this trip twice and driven both times. The first time we were had picked up a Volvo so that was an easy choice. The second time we priced flights and trains and decided that we wanted the flexibility of exploring.

There are several inexpensive flights and the highspeed train as PalenQ suggests -- for us after adding all the people (we were a family of five as well)it made sense to drive.

If you should decide to drive post again and I'm sure people will help with routes.

Mom and I are planning to drive directly from Stockholm to Helsinger in mid-June - the first way has to be straight through reserving touring for the return trip to Stockholm. Do you have a good estimate how long the first part will take? Thanks

Try to book you train ticket from Stockholm in advance or get to the train station very early on the day of travel. I had to wait over an hour for my turn to buy a ticket last summer.

I've driven and trained but best way depends on your circumstances. I would drive it again. There are some interesting stops. My favorites are Boda, Kosta, and Orrefors.

Swedes are excellent and courteous drivers and the roads are good. Rent the car as you leave Stockholm and dump it as soon as you arrive in Copenhagen.

Check on Viamichelin.com but it lists almost 7 hours. You'll probably come down through Jonkoping.

You can do a leisurely return through up the coast, the glass country, with a stop in Kalmar. Boda, Kosta and Orrefors are glass factories and great if you are interested in that.
