Stockholm/Prague/Amalfi coast??

Hello,

Doing some preliminary research for a three-week trip. At this point, we're thinking of flying from Toronto to Stockholm. Stay about 5 days. Fly/take train? from Stockholm to Prague. Stay about 5 days. From Prague fly/train? to Naples to investigate the Amalfi Coast for the rest of the trip.

Any suggestions on where we can save money transportation-wise?

Any one else who did this itinerary?

Thanks so much.

rb24: Since my wife and I like to visit Stockholm, it has been the start point for several of our European trips. If you purchase transatlantic airfare on SAS, you can get discounts on flights within Europe to points served by SAS, generally about $125 per person per leg. We have traveled from Stockholm to Vienna and Stockholm to Milan, and both round trips were about $250 with the discount.

You can save money on transportation by picking cities that aren't in 3 completely different areas.

By train from Stockholm to Prague is 20 to 25 hours with multiple stops, and Prague to Naples is from 20 to 24 hours also with multiple stops.

Given your very limited time I would check discount airlines to see if any have flights that meet your needs. (I don;t know off hand and they change rapidly and by season - and you don;t say when you're traveling.)

We've looked at similar itineraries and have decided that Scandinavia really needs to be done as a separate trip.

rb,

Can't help with the transportation, but you have picked 3 wonderful spots to visit.

Have a great trip!!

If you really are serious about saving money despite this geographically widespread itinerary, you will have to
1) pack ultra-light so you can
2) use Ryanair, from Stockholm to Prague (direct)
3) use SkyEurope from Prague to Napoli or to Bari or Smartwings to Rome
4) book your ticket as "multi-city" into Stockholm and home from Napoli or Rome

Thanks so much for all your replies.

We're hoping to travel starting mid-August into the first week of September.

Should we allocate more time in certain areas?

Many thanks.
