Stockholm or Oslo

I was considering a trip to either Stockholm or Oslo, and I'm wondering what city people like better? Is one generally a little less expensive than the other accomodation-wise?

Hi,
I don't know Oslo that well, but I love Stockholm. It is wonderful - lots of interesting things to see and do, plenty of great restaurants and the city itself is just beautiful. It has all the things a big city offers, but also wonderful nature all around it...
I live in Copenhagen, which is great as well, but Stockholm is far better.
I think that Stockholm might be the less expensive one.
Hope this helps

I've been to both Stockholm and Oslo and I very much prefer Stockholm. More to see and do including boat trips out to the islands. Cost-wise there is no difference. When you go anywhere in Scandinavia you need to take a large bag of money. Hotels and restaurants are all very expensive. One thing though; you can't beat the buffet breakfasts at the hotels.

We found prices in both Oslo and Stockholm to be fairly similar. Not cheap - but not as much as London - for instance. Certaily not more tha NYC.

Oslo is charming - quite small and manageable. Stockholm is very beautiful - and IMHO there is much more to see and do there. It's also somewhat livelier - esp as regards good dining and nightlife - although not up to the Madrid standard of continual yodeling in the streets at 3/4am.

Another vote for Stockholm. Oslo is interesting (and the Frogner Park with the Vigelund statues is quite amazing) - and it's worthwhile if you have time to get out in the countryside and perhaps do the Norway in a Nutshell tour to Bergen... BUT, if we're just comparing cities, Stockholm hands down is the prettier city. It's got much more to do and is quite beautiful. Definitely Stockholm.

Katrine: If you're still reading these posts, and since you live in Copenhagen, it'd be great if you could offer your advice on a hotel for us in your city. We'll be there for a couple of nights in July and are looking for something as quiet as possible-- we're light sleepers. Quiet is the main priority, but of course we'd love spacious rooms, great bathrooms, great views, etc as well. High-end rates are ok. (tho I'd like to be able to get good rates if possible.) Thanks to Katrine adn anyone else who can help.

Poss,
since I live in Copenhagen I have never tried any hotels here...! But I would go for Radisson SAS Royal Hotel, it is in the middle of the city (and therefore I am not sure about the noise factor here...) or perhaps the Sophie Amalie hotel because of the location. But again - I haven't heard about them or tried myself. My best advice is to look at tripadvisor.
You should also look at www.aok.dk - you can chose an english version. aok means "alt om københavn" which means "everything about copenhagen. It is the best site about whats going on in the city and I use it myself all the time - restaurants, museums, concerts and so on...
If I can help you with anything else please ask. I hope you'll have a great time in Copenhagen!
