STOCKHOLM or COPENHAGEN - which is more interesting?

From a general tourist point of view - which city is more interesting to visit, Stockholm or Copenhagen?

Hey w,

If you told us some of the things that interest you we could help. As it is, all you are going to get are which city interests us.

for general tourist IMO Copenhagen and one reason is that it offers a panoply of great short day trips to nearby sites that are easy to reach - Stockholm seems way too modern for my tastes - but it is a nice city.

Copenhagen and Denmark is also much cheaper than Sweden - IME much much cheaper.

Interested in old towns, architecture, museums etc

As ira has said, it's a matter of personal taste.

Having been to both cities, I would go back to Copenhagen sooner than to Stockholm.

Both are fascianting. stockholm has perhaps slighty more to see/do. Both are best seen in the summer - when many seasonal things are open. But yuo can esily spend 4 or 5 days in either one without seeing everything

I would go back to Stockholm before I would return to Copenhagen.

Definitely prefer Stockholm.

Stockholm is my choice.

Both cities would offer what you are looking for. Honestly, I'd just pick one and have a good time. Both are very pleasant cities. Stockholm is a bit more picturesque, but Copenhagen probably edges Stockholm out for dining (at the high end) and nightlife.

Copenhagen and Denmark is also much cheaper than Sweden - IME much much cheaper.

Other than beer and (cheap) wine, I don't think this is true at all. Perhaps hotels might also be a bit more expensive in Stockholm, but certainly not shopping or dining.

Copenhagen ranks 17th on Mercer's cost of living rankings. Stockholm comes out at 39th.

Frankly, both cities are expensive and choosing one over the other because of cost seems silly. Just forget about the expense in either place and have a good time.
