Visit the WASA. It is a brand new ship that sank in Stockholm Harbor on first voyage in around 1620. Some guy decided to locate it in 1960 and found the thing. They brought it up and now have in a museum. Almost completely intact and great example of what those ships actually looked like. Interesting to see.

Old town is fun to walk through and shop.

Been there for work 18 month ago. Forgive me for the spelling on these names, but I think I'm close. For a restaurant "Den Gyldene Freden" for a great dinner. Hotel that I have had people say was nice is the "Victory Hotel" in the Old Town. I stayed at the Radisson which was ~$315/night (on the company's tab, of course). If you want to go out for a drink and dancing the "Cafe Opera"(http://www.operakallaren.com/) is a great place.

See if you can find which weekend the Stockholm Water Festival takes place. It's great fun, like a gigantic county fair in the middle of the city. Take the day boat from the landing near the City Hall up Lake Malaren to Drottningholm Castle, tour the castle, have lunch, and return. Marvelous. Take the tour of the City Hall -- very interesting building, see where the Nobel Prize awards are made, enormous mosaics. See the WASA and the nearby country museum of homes and other old buildings moved from all over Sweden to a park.
