Stockholm Hotels
This will be our first trip to Stockholm, and we'll be traveling in mid-September. We like interesting hotels, preferably in a very central location. Price range: USD300-500 per night. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! |

It might help, if only a little bit, if you could define the term "interesting"...Stockholm has a lot of different sorts of hotels..some air conditioned/some not. Some are in more interesting areas than others. I would also recommend that you go to TripAdvisor and read some of the reviews to help you narrow down your possible choices.

We stayed at the Nordic Light in May 2007 and took advantage of their weekend special to score a gorgeous room with breakfast for 200 per night. The breakfast was the best I ever had and the location perfect.

Thank you so much -- these are both excellent suggestions, and are exactly what we're looking for. The Grand Hotel seems perfect!
Has anyone stayed at the Lydmar Hotel? It looks really good too. |
We just returned from Stockholm--stayed at the Radisson Strand with views of the water right out our window. This is the second time we've stayed there and were happy both times. We have dined and had drinks at the bar of the Grand. It is a Grand Hotel in the truest sense of that old-fashioned luxury era. Lovely. I stopped into the Lydmar which was right between the Grand and the Strand. It's design conscious and very cool. Both it and the Grand face one area of water and the Radisson faces another. I'd say the location of the Radisson is slightly better with a prettier waterfront but for an "interesting" hotel, I'd choose the Lydmar. I think it's only a year or two old and is very "happening." Enjoy Stockholm. One of the most beautiful cities in the world, for sure.

I wanted to say thanks again to everyone who responded. We have reservations at the Grand Hotel, and are very much looking forward to our trip. Unfortunately we'll only be in Stockholm for three days. I'm sure we'll wish we could stay much longer.
