Does anyone have a suggestion for a city center reasonable hotel ?

Hotel Colonial. Nothing upscale but we found it okay. Located a few minutes from the central station. The old town, city hall etc. are reachable on foot if you don't mind a bit of walking, although the use of the underground saves time and effort. Website: http://www.colonial.se/

What means reasonable? Speak in dollars, euros or local wampum.

Please provide a specific budget and let us know if this is just you or a couple or ?

It's very difficult to help someone who provides no information.

I've stayed at the Courtyard which could come into budget depending on the time of year you are travelling. It's not the most central but is close to a metro station.

Hopefully the other posters who could not advise you without knowing your budget can now provide some specific recommendations.

We usually stay here at the Zinkensdamm hotel when visiting Stockholm mainly because it's close to our friends house but is clean and nicely priced. It is located on Södermalm and close to the tunnelbana station. They have two options in the same property- a hotel or hostel and breakfast is served in two different rooms depending on which you select.

If you decide on the hostel (vandrahem) route you can rent linens for the bed and bath. These rooms are identical to the hotel rooms except you make your own bed and clean your room and bathroom before you check out.

Our kids (in their 20's) stayed at the Scandic Malmen in December and said they were pleased.

I stayed at the Radisson Blu Royal Viking which is practically inside the central train station. Whether it is within your budget depends on when you're traveling. Try booking.com.
