Stockholm & Copenhagen - 7 Nights early Sep
We plan to visit Sweden and Denmark 1st week of September 2016 from the East coast....
We are mainly looking forward to scenic beauty and sightseeing and bit of shopping.
are 7 days enough to cover 2 places ? initially thought of Sweden but got a feeling that there may not be enough to do in Sweden alone.... so we thought to add Denmark.
I would like to know what itinerary you would recommend or how you did it ..we will fly between Sweden and Denmark ..
is there any advantage arriving in Stockholm or Copenhagen first ?
any kind of safety concerns walking around late in the evenings if you have been there recently?
thanks much!

I also would go with more time in Stockholm. As for safety, both seemed to be safe at night in most areas where a tourist would visit anyway. I will share some pics of each. Attached below.
In Copenhagen, we took one day to hop on the train from Norreport (station) to visit Hillerod and the Castle, then continuing on to "Louisiana" modern art and sculpture venue on the grounds in . We fit this in very nicely, returning to Norreport late afternoon (see pics). We stayed at The
Ibsen, short walk between the lakes and the pedestrian street (Stroget)
Five days in the Stockholm vicinity will afford you plenty of time to see the city and environs. (see pics)We enjoyed The Mornington Hotel, also easy walk to the harbor and "old town".

7 days is 6 nights, it's not alot of time. In this case I would divide the time equally, 3 nights in each city. Stockholm is very beautiful and if you like scenic beauty would suggest an excursion around the archipelago (ferry to Helsinki might take too much time).
Copenhagen is quite different, the food and shopping scene is much better (& cheaper), it is easy to take train excursions to see the sights such as Kronberg Castle although with your short time there, I would suggest renting a car. This will allow you to get around quicker and at your own timetable so it would not take an entire day just to see Roskilde for instance, you could combine that with something else. The north coastal road from Copenhagen is pretty & is best driven IMO, small coastal towns such as Hornbæk are charming.
I would visit Copenhagen first, followed by Stockholm, simply because most people prefer Stockholm.

Even if I had had a car (I did not), I would have wanted a day in Roskilde. Again, it depends on what you want to see and do.
BTW, if you skip Copenhagen / Roskilde this trip, you could add Uppsala or Visby or ... to your time in Stockholm to round out your week. Just an idea....
