Stockholm Accommodation
 

I will be staying in Stockholm for approx 10 days at the end of May/beginning of June. Will be conducting some business there which is why it is so long but it will still all be at my own expense. Would love some recommendations on where to stay with an upper limit of US$200 per day (preferably less). I had a look at Best Western Mornington from recommendations on this site but it is completely booked out. I would also be interested in apartments as well or even a B&B. Do they have B&B's in Stockholm? It doesn't have to be in the heart of the city but no more than a short commute into town.

Incidentally, what is the weather likely to be at that time of the year?

I stayed at the Lady Hamilton on Gamle Stan. It's in the old town and very convenient to most places. It's an old 14th century building that has been renovated into a small hotel. It has a real B&B feel to it. The staff are very warm and helpful, the breakfast buffet, included in our room rate, was fabulous. The rooms are small with the exception of a couple of suites, but they are comfortable. I did do "battle with the bells" a few nights. The Stockholm Cathedral is very close to the hotel and the bells ring on the hour. Sometimes they woke me up and other nights they didn't. The hotel is filled with antiques and folk art. I'ts was very warm and cozy and that worked for me since it was the first of January and the high for most days was a "blistering" 20 degress fahrenheit. Anyway, just google Lady Hamilton and check it out. Everyone there speaks perfect english so if you are interested you could call the hotel directly.

Oops...its Gamla Stan I think. I can't believe my grandmother was swedish. I just can't get anything right in that language. LOL

Thanks for the info. I will check out the Lady Hamilton and that is a wonderful site you gave me Willtravel. A wealth of information but would still love some personal recommendations. I have also started trawling through the tripadvisor lists.

Wow, that IS a great website. Lady Hamilton is listed and you can take the tour right around it. It looks different..it was covered in show when I was there.
