Stintino - Sardinia
We are about to book the most ridiculously cheap tickets to Sardinia - 2 Euros plus tax.
We may try something we have never done in 37 years of travel in my case - no hire car. We plan to fly to Alghero and get the bus the Stintino - its the only area of the island we haven't visited - I am aware that the beaches are superb - Does anyone know what the restaurants are like - are there enough to keep us going for 7 nights in September. We simply want to get up, go to the beach all day and eat good food! Thoughts would be appreciated. |
Can't help you with your question but...
2 Euros? That is cheap! I assume taxes aren't included. Where are you flying from? What airlines are you using? |
2 Euros plus taxes - Ryanair - Liverpool to Alghero in late September.
Ryanir - love them or hate them - I can't no to the price. |
Alright, now I am so very jealous! I don't expect you to believe a word of this, but.......(wink wink, nod nod) We were there for two nights and only ate at 3 places. We had a huge breakfast buffet at our hotel (Hotel Club Roccaruja). We ate our lunches and dinners at the restaurant "La Pelosetta" on La Pelosa beach and "Il Gabbiano" which was right on the beach in front of the Roccaruja. Il Gabbiano served great pizza and served pizza at lunch too. My husband had the best fish at Il Gabbiano for dinner. Both of these places were so good. They BOTH served FRESH AND TASTY food and were conveniently so close to us that we didn't try anywhere else. I recomend that you stay at the hotel "La Pelosetta" (http://www.lapelosetta.it/listino.asp?ver=it#hotel) or "Hotel Roccaruja" (http://www.gestitur.it/roccaruja.htm) in the La Pelosa beach area. It is so beautiful there. You'll be there after the crowds so you'll really be able to soak it all in. I could never forget the myriad of colors of the sea in Stintino. You'll really be able to relax and get away from it all while being surrounded by sheer beauty. There is the town of Stintino which is kind of a trek (4 km) from La Pelosa beach and the two hotels I mentioned. We didn't have a car and we didn't try to figure out the bus situation either so we never made it to the town of Stintino. However, I know you can find more restaurants in the town of Stintino. Do tell us your impressions upon your return! I'm very happy for you. You'll just love it!!! |
2 euro! Wow!
congratulations, Mark! do they do this very often? Are you on some kind of email list for specials? |
dina4
they always do it - continually. Its just a case of being keeping up with the latest offers, spending time searching their database and being flexible with dates. |
Hi Pilates
It had totally slipped my mind that you had been to Stintino - thanks for the links - I'll certainly check them out. 4km to Stintino would be fine - we would probably get taxis. I did actually look at website for Castelsardo - I am now beginning to think that we arrived on a very bad day! It does look a totally different town to the one we expeienced. Will let you know how things go. I don't think that we will be posting a full travel post - it would make very tedious reading! |
