Still need nice hotel in Rome...please help!

We will be going on our honeymoon and Rome will be our first stop. We really want someplace nice but don't want to spend more than 300 USD. On this site everyone has said to stay in the Pantheon area, right? Any suggestions for hotels would be great!!!

TexasAggie Feb 16th, 2006 02:53 PM

I don't have a suggestion for a hotel in that area, but I like Residenza Cellini and it gets RAVE reviews on www.tripadvisor.com. The area is more central to the train station but it still an easy walk (15 minutes) to the Pantheon, Colosseum, etc.

Also, there are many more regular posters online in the morning than in the evening so make sure to top your post tomorrow to get more responses

I think the Del Senato is a bit more, depending on the month, but would be a great choice for a romantic hotel near (next to) the Pantheon. Also Santa Chiara is a great hotel just around the corner.

We stayed four nights at Hotel Due Torri (23 Vicolo del Leonetto), a small hotel well located about 5 minutes north of Piazza Navona on a narrow street. This means Due Torri is a quiet refuge in what is a noisy, bustling city.

Loved everything about the hotel (especially breakfast and the charming proprietor) and walked everywhere. Friends stayed there a year later and loved it too.

I did read the responses to my other post, I was just hoping for some different choices. Some of the hotels I had already checked out and wasn't overly impressed. But thanks for reminding me.

Also check Santa Chiara

Ditto on the Santa Chiara!!

Depending on the season, you might find a room around that price at the Nazionale e Montecitorio, a short walk from the Pantheon on a lovely traffic free piazza that houses the Parliament building.

I am on my way to Italy as well...Does anyone have info regarding the Hotel Bernini Palace, Splendide Royal or the Boscolo Hotel Palace in Rome?

Thanx to all of the seasoned travellers here !!

I have booked the SOFITEL ROMA at a very reasonable internet rate. The location is excellent, the rooms are quite large, the Hotel has gotten excellent reviews.

The La Residenza is a great and reasonable hotel in Rome. Just a block or two from the Via Veneto. A fabulous breakfast - no resturant, but wants to dine in when there are so many good resturants in the general area.

CAAA101406,

Help us help you.

Which places have you already ruled out and why.

Which places have you already telephoned?

Which placed have you already emailed?

lincasanova Feb 18th, 2006 02:25 PM

we stayed at two boscolo hotels that were excellent value for money.
trento and vicenza.

i would actually look for that chain on next trip.

Leely Feb 18th, 2006 02:28 PM

I agree with bardo. What do you consider nice and not-so-nice? I'm sure people must have recommended the Del Senato to you; I've stayed there and thought it was plenty nice, but I get the feeling maybe it's not nice enough for you?

The Minerve would be nice, but may very well go above--possibly way above--300USD/nt unless you're able to get some promotional deal.

Friends have stayed at both the Locarno and the Inn at the Spanish Steps and liked them both. I'm not sure what they're running now in terms of cost.

Leely Feb 18th, 2006 02:50 PM

Okay, the Minerve and the Inn at the Spanish Steps are both out of your price range.

The Locarno, while not by the Pantheon, is in your range. It's by the Piazza del Popolo--not a bad location if you're a good walker. The friends who stayed there thought it was "very nice," but again, I don't know what you're looking for exactly. Is it decor, amenities, location (location location--and you'll pay for it in Rome), what?

Good luck! I love Rome and hope you do, too.

Check out the Hotel Forum. http://www.hotelforumrome.com It is very "Italian" and directly across the street from the Forum. The roof top dining room and breakfast area have spaectular views of the Forum, as do some rooms on the front of the building. Rooms on the side street tend to be small with not much of a view. I last stayed there more than 10 years ago, so please check with others to verify my info is current.

I second the "Gray Lady"s" recommendation of the Forum Hotel. We stayed there in Nov 2002, asked for (when booking) and was given a front room with a view of the Forums. Gets a little noise from the main street, but you won't notice it after the first night. The breakfast choices are the best I've had in Italy, and the sunset view from the roof top restraunt or the terrace bar above the restraunt reveals the essence of historical Rome. Lots of major sites within easy walking distance, including; the Forums, Colosseum, the Capitoline Museums, the San Clemente and San Giovanni in Laterano churches. A little longer walk or short taxi ride to any other site.
May you have a fabulous and an unforgetable honeymoon, and return with the one you love again and again to a great city.
