Stechelberg to Lauterbrunnen Walk

How long does it take to do the hike from Stechelberg to Lauterbrunnen?

And, more importantly, can you pick up the post bus along the way if you are feeling too tired to go on?

Leaving for Switzerland in 34 days,

You should be OK. It's an easy, but beatiful trail and will take 2 or 2 1/2 hours at the most. Probably 3 1/2 to 4 miles. Richard

how long depends on how fast you walk - Get a copy of Jungfrau Magazine, free at every hotel, train station, lift state, tourist office, outhouse, etc in the whole Jungfrau region - in it is a nifty relief map with all footpaths outlined with walking times for the average walking and also color coded as to the degree of difficulty - the most difficult ones may require good hiking gear, etc - but let that me a guide to walk times and degrees of difficulty.

I have done this STROLL a few times - a paved or graded path the whole few miles along a gurgling brook - Trummelbach Falls are on the trail just before Lauterbrunnen - the famous water cascade inside a mountain and said to be the sole drain of the Jungfrau Massif overlooking the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

If doing the whole loop Lauterbrunne-Grutschalp-Murren-Gimmelwald-Stechelberg and for those having a Swiss Pass the whole route is covered 100% - I know you have the Half-Fare Card, a wise choice for your plans - but for others with a pass use it here - especially one of the flexible days on say a 3-day flexipass - I do not know what the entire fare is but with the steep decline of the Swiss franc - today official rate $1.30 it may be worth it ($1.30 means about 1.36 given normal commission and % your credit card charges for foreign transactions perhaps. Ouch! Bring anything you will need with you from abroad!

And yes the path for the most part follows the main road in this very narrow part of the Lauterbrunnen gorge-like valley so there are stops along the way or I think it is possible to just flag down the bus anywhere - but IME this bus can be full after picking up crowds at the lower base of the cableway to Gimmelwald and Murren - you can still board however.

It's not a hike, it's an easy 4.4 miles stroll, most of it paved, takes between an hour and 90 minutes depending on how fast you walk. Details here:

Thanks.

I have done the loop before, but I took the bus from Stechelberg to Lauterbrunnen because I didn't know how long the hike would be.

I can easily walk 4.4 miles.

Leaving for Switzerland in 27 days. I know you are all pea-green with envy.
