And I forgot about the great Chinanina beef in Tuscany! Whoever says that steak in Europe is not good has never eaten a good bistecca!

Had faux fillet at Brasserie de l'Ile St Louis in November..with frites. Very tasty indeed.

"Unfortunately european beef is not the best"

It is not, however, classed as toxic waste, as is American beef, which has been banned from Europe for the last twenty years.

I think the cut of beef is different than here. After 4 trips to France, 3 including Paris, we no longer order steak. Its always been tough and a disappointment.

I had a pretty good faux fillet at la petite hostelerie one of the many restaurants on rue de la Harpe (yes believe me I know it is far from haute cuisine and considered by some to be a tourist trip) but for €13.90 menu with an appetizer and dessert it was certainly not terrible. (I like the area and after a busy day in Paris, I need one of the internet cafes on the street anyway. There are other okay restaurants along the street yes frequented mostly by tourists but then again food and eating is not necessarily my first priority while away from home but that's me).
