Staying on a houseboat in Amsterdam

I think being on a small non-commercial (in terms of freight barges, etc) would be infinitely more romantic than being on the busy and wide Amstel - though that would not be bad - but like near the Hermitage would be so so sweet - any of the inner ring canals like Keizersgraacht - Prinsengraacht, etc are all really quaint and neat

Hi Opaldog,
yes it looks like the houseboat you posted is in the same area as the one my sister and I stayed on. we easlily took the tram to the city center when we wanted. there was an Albert Heijn (Hollands Safeway) close by for groceries.

The landlord lived elsewhere and we had sole access to the houseboat. the outside area was small but i think we had a chair out there. Ask landlord to make sure. He was extremely nice and helpful. there is a seperate bedroom. there was a futon in livingroom. my sister took the living room and I took the futon. It was ideal for us.
But probably no good for 2 couples.

We enjoyed it and I would stay here again with my husband if we had the chance.
