Staying in the Loire Valley

What's a truly memorable hotel to stay at in the Loire Valley? Romantic, charming, lots of character, etc. Any advice is welcome.

Chateau d'artigny near Montbazon, just south of Tours. At www.slh.com or I have given more specific info about it here on posts in the past. <BR>

Le Choiseul in Amboise - which is also a wonderful town on is own and a great base for visiting the main sites. Not cheap, but memorable...

We too stayed at Le Choiseul in Amboise which was very nice. We also stayed at Hotel Diderot in Chinon, which was less fancy, but even more atmospheric and friendly, and we liked the town of Chinon very much.

Chateau de Rochecotte in Langeais was wonderful 5 years ago (we were there in September.) Our room was huge and we truly felt like the royalty who once lived there. The food was also wonderful--could hardly believe all the types of cheeses served after the scrumptious dessert choice! We also got little samples of Madame Rochas perfume along with other neat soaps, etc. There is a web site:www.chateau-de-rochecotte.fr Good luck!
