Staying in the Latin Quarter, but I just speak French!
Quick question on Paris. I'll be there for the first time this November staying in the so-called "Latin Quarter". I am an American who speaks English and some Frahn-says, but I do not know any other languages. Can I get by without a decent knowledge of Latin? Will they understand French or English better?

I appreciate your help!

You can get by without Latin but you really should learn to speak some Quarter. Try to set up conversation exchange with a Quarter Horse.
Language: Ignore the previous posters. They are rude. You should know that Latin Quarter is simply the name of the neighborhood. French is spoken throughout Paris and Latin is, in fact, not spoken anywhere in the world.

C'mon, Polite, gimme a break; tell me there's someone who is smart enough to buy an airplane ticket who thinks Latin is spoken in the LQ--right!

If you stay in the Romanian quarter you'll need latin. Beware, the Vikings are planning to invade Paris in November.
Incidentally, Latin is spoken somewhere in the world. It's the official language of the Vatican City.
