euro, if you'll be spending that much time at the ruins, definitely take a peek inside the archeological museum! You can easily see the highlights in about 2 hours, it's easy to take the "subway" train there from Naples termini, and IMO it's mind-blowing to see the detail and workmanship of the objects used by the Romans.
I'll also add that if I had had more time in the area, I would have loved to have seen the Villa Oplontis. (From Fodor's 5th Edition, Campania Top Attractions: "For the best Roman frescoes, head to the Villa of Oplontis between the two ancient cities.")
