staying in Piazza Navone

My husband and I will be in Rome in NOvember. I am looking for a place to stay in Piazza Navone by many people's recommendations. I want very moderate, but not too sparce (they would have a hair dryer in the room, private bath, no long flights upstairs). There are too many choices!!! Any help out there.

I could use a little direction in Florence as well.

Thanks.

"Very moderate" needs to be defined in numbers.

Piazza Navona isn't my favorite area, so I'll let others address Rome.

I like Tourist House Ghiberti in Florence. Others prefer Hotel Casci.

Good morning,

My sister and I will be staying at the Residenza Canali, in September, which is (apparently) only a couple of blocks from PN. It shows pretty well on Trip Advisor:

We are also staying at Hotel Casci in in Florence - today rated as "7" out of 500 hotels.

If you email me after my trip (end of Sept) I'll happily let you know my thoughts ([email protected]) one note - they don't have elevators!

We stayed at Residenza Canali in Rome this summer. The location is great - just a short walk to Piazza Navona. We liked this hotel - it is not luxurious, but it was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Be aware that there is no elevator - you might ask which floor your room would be on before booking. We were on the 5th floor in a room with a lovely roof top terrace. The stairs weren't much fun, but the large room and terrace were worth the climb.

Thank you for the suggestions. I am requesting information for the hotels that were recommended - best rates and number of stairs to room.

The hotel recommended in Rome looks nice but I was hoping at that time of year to get something even cheaper. I know that I asked for the PN area which was recommended to me. Any better suggestions?

In Florence, we really liked the Relais Cavalcanti. Here's my trip report, with details:

Try Hotel Portoghesi. It is in a lovely location near Piazza Novona. We have stayed twice.

Hi,

We love the Piazza Navona area, and have stayed (happily) at the Redenza Canali and the Hotel Genio.

The R. Canali, as someone mentioned, has steep stairs and our room, which did not have the terrace, was quite small.

The Genio, which is right around the corner from the R. Canali, is larger, has an elevator, and a nice rooftop terrace.

Rates there in November are probably 150 E. or less.

Have a great trip!

In Rome, if you're staying three or more nights after Nov. 15th, both of these hotels (owned by the same woman) are offering the last night free:

These hotels are located (generally) in the area between the Spanish Steps and Piazza Navona. I've stayed at the Fontanella Borghese multiple times over many years.

If you check other hotel websites, you may find the same 4th night free offer. It's been a popular enticement this summer and appears to be extending into the fall.

I've started checking out the hotel. They look good. I'm just waiting for availability.

DH and I stayed at the Hotel Smeraldo in May. I loved this hotel and the location and price were great.

Not sure if you have booked yet but I have stayed twice at Hotel Navona and am in the process of booking for a 3rd stay. It is clean and only 1/2 a block off Piazza Navona. I LOVE the location. Nothing fancy but clean with a private bath. If you get a regular room it is just 1 flight of stairs.
