Staying in East Barnet

Hi, again. We'll be staying in the East Barnet (a few blocks from Oakwood Station) area before and after Christmas. Just looking for suggestions on area restaurants/pubs/things to do in the evening after a long day of sightseeing.

Thanks.

are you staying with friends? Because otherwise there's really no reason to stay there. If you are, then I'm sure your friends would be the best placed to advise you.

Except for some regional parks I really don't know of much in the area. Is there some reason you have chosen to stay there? If it is because you have friends living there, Kate is right - they would be your best source of info.

East Barnet is a very long ways from most sightseeing. Oakwood is just about the end of the line tube-wise (Cockfosters is the very end of the Picadilly line and is the stop after Oakwood). You will be in zone 6 so your transport will be a lot more expensive than if you stayed closer in.

Actually, were staying at Oak Hill Seminary during their holiday break. The price they're charging us more than makes up for the inconvenience/cost of being so far out.

What price are they charging you? Have you compared that to Priceline?

Unless it is less than about £15 - £20 per night inc breakfast, the inconvenience and extra transport may actually not be worth the savings.

If you are getting a REALLY low rate - great. Otherwise you will waste a lot of time getting around.

It is actually £15 a night for a two bedroom suite. Just dorm living, but we're not picky.

Here's what the local council have to say about it:
