I have a friend who stayed at Villa Rosa and loved it. A furnished balcony is a must for me when I visit Positano. An easy walk to Bruno's for dinner!
The app Eat Italy has recs for both Rome and Venice. The author Elizabeth Minchilli is very knowledgeable and I agree with many of her recs!

I stay with my family but have stayed at this place for a splurge with my sons.

They bugged me over and over to stay there as they see it from the beach. We had a blast but it is very expensive and full of honeymooners who were a bit snooty about a couple of kids in the pool
I hope you have a great time Judy!

And so.....after all my questions and all my planning for Positano, I had to cut my Italy short by a few days so I won't get to see the Amalfi Coast this time.
Beyond sad.....but it can't be helped.
Fortunately my Positano Hotel was not paid in advance and I was able to cancel the reservation, and was able to move the prepaid hotel in Rome for my last night to the night before my new departure back to the USA.
Thanks to you all for your assistance in helping me plan my Italy vacation, will post a trip report upon my return.
Venice and Rome is still a FANTASTIC VACATION!!

Any recommendations for where a family of 5 can stay in Salerno? (3 teenage daughters)... like authentic vibe, clean, nature, art, shopping, good food, and possibly a swim to cool off at the end of a day of sightseeing. Coming from Rome, staying 4 nights in this Amalfi Coast area, want to see Pompeii, Capri, Positano.

@ nixrtkls: You will be more likely to get responsive answers if you start a new thread. In the meantime, you might check your options on booking.com
Enjoy - Salerno is greatly underrated IMO. And if basing in Salerno, consider visiting Paestum.
