oh well, vince, my shoulders are broad.

And if I say it often enough, someone might take notice, though clearly not pariswat who has done exactly the same thing!

is it THIS hotel flora you mean, pariswat;

Yes Ann, that is the one.

[how difficult is it to post a link?]

Thanks for this useful comment, as well as the other - I clearly didn't take notice, and I don't know why, but I have a feeling that I won't take much notice in the future either.

[how difficult is it to be nice?]

well, pariswat, I was going to thank you for drawing that hotel to my attention as gardens in Venice are like hens' teeth, but clearly I'm not nice enough to do that!

Better stop here Ann.
I'm too old for this and have a big mouth - we might get along with a glass of beer in front of us but it won't do with internet..
Have a nice day. I just opened a good cote du Ventoux, things will get a better perspective.
Cheers.
On a positive note, yes the garden is very small but nice.

We ate breakfast in Hotel Flora's garden where we felt miles away from the tourist mobs. Our room was lovely too.

happy to stop, pariswat, and crack a beer with you, or better still sit outside the Caffe Rosso in Campo Santa Margherita, listening to the jazz band and drinking a spritz.

[couldn't resist - sorry!]

>>>I would stay at Boscolo Venezia near Madonna dell'Orto (you can walk over from Orange Line Alilaguna Stop Orto).<<<

I have just booked the Boscolo Venezia for a post-cruise stay at a bargain rate. The vaporetto connections are excellent and they have a free watertaxi shuttle service to Sant Marco.

For the pre-cruise stay I got an even better rate at the Molino Stucky which also has an excellent location.

In Venice, what matters is the proximity to a vaporetto stop. Otherwise you might have to schlepp your baggage through narrow alleys, negotiating stairs.

This is the main resource for choosing a hotel in Venice:
