When in Killarney, go to Treyvaud's Restaurant on high street. A bright yellow and red building with beautiful stone frontage. The food is amazing, service is brilliant and it's not expensive. check out their web site www.treyvaudsrestaurant.com
I guarantee you'll get a fantastic meal

Just my opinion, Traolee is a bit of a kip. It's not really a tourist site and I only ever had lunch in Killarney once but it seemed nicer.

Killarney gets my vote. There are a lot of great pubs, good restaurants at reasonable prices, and it's a good base for touring and golfing in Kerry.

While I find Rick Steves TV shows on PBS entertaining, I don't really care for his books. It seems like he's always trying to do things on the cheap.
And as for Ann41's comments - she must be referring to the Laurels Singing Pub, which does cater to tour groups. But there are so many pubs in Killarney, that you're bound to find one to your liking. I was there in early June and found several.

Budman, with all due respect, I am not advertising for this restaurant, but I thought we were to express our opinion here and I think that for every negative comment about Killarney I am entitled to give a good one. Now alot of people are saying stay clear of Killarney because people are saying the restaurants are terrible, so I disagree and I think Treyvauds is fantastic.I also would say same for Lord Kenmares and The West End. If you want, I can recmnd great restaurants in Kenmare and Kinsale too, I just dont think its fair to tell people to stay away from somewhere they havent even tried.

The drive through the park towards kileen is breathtaking and very narrow and windy.
I liked Killarny much more than I expected too because of Rick Steve's critique. We had a dinner at a local little restaurant pub which was delicious. Sorry I cannot remember the name. Outside of Killarney about an 8 minute drive is Kileen House. FABULOUS dinner. Went there twice!

We stayed in Kenmare...
the drive from Kenmare to the park, between Kenmare and Killarney, is wonderful...nice views of the lakes!

Kenmare has good pubs, music, and places to eat.

We ate at The Lime Tree...nice.
(but the food at the Half Door in Dingle was better...spoiled us).
