Stay in Eze or Nice?
I am interested in exploring Eze, Nice, Monaco and some of the other areas close by. Which area is best to stay? I am leaning towards Nice but have heard wonderful things about Eze as well.

Nice. Great central base with several in-town sights and loads of restaurants and cafes.
Eze. Good views but overrun with other people and nothing to do once you've admired the views. Do a day (half day) trip from Nice if you insist.

Nice is a great city for your base and to hang out in - the beach, shops, restaurants - with great public transportation to make day trips to the likes of Eze and Monaco.
Eze does have beautiful scenery but I found little else and I agree that once you've seen it, there's nothing else to do. I didn't think that Monaco was worth the time of a day trip but if you decide you must see it, there is a boat tour from Cannes to Monaco in the morning, drops you off in Monaco and then takes you back in the afternoon. The boat ride shows off the entire coastline which is quite beautiful and gives you a slightly different perspective.
Two websites you might want to check out for accommodations are nicepebbles.com and ownersdirect.com. Many travelers on this site (myself included) prefer an apartment to a hotel. They are generally cheaper than a hotel and give you a much more spacious setting than typical European hotels. Also gives you a kitchen for a quick cup of coffee in the morning and some options for meals if you don't want to have every meal in a restaurant. Hope you enjoy your trip.

Thanks everyone. This is a great help. I was only considering Eze, as it was a recommendation from a friend and I wondered if it was worth staying there. Sounds like it is not. Thanks!

Thanks for answering JD1020. Based on that, then as has been suggested, Nice is the place for you. Eze is lovely for a visit during the day, but for access to the rest of the Riviera and surrounds, Nice is the better option for you.
