Thank you thank you...I just finished talking to a rep...he said only 30,ooo can be bought per person and unless I wait until January to get more....

All I could find was a regular coach award tickets and I need one business..The business fare for continental wa 4000!!!.they could not find any business awards......I will try Amex.....I feel like this is good for the "you know if you're a travel addict thread"!!
he lowest fare is 3200 for business...now (published}
Again I cannot even find one Business in May of June although some people are better locator's than others
Patty you are awesome!!! I will call them on it!!!!

Try to talk to someone in Partner Awards (you'll have to ask to be transfered). I've noticed more inexperienced agents in international reservations lately and they may not be looking at all options.

You might also try the all-business class airlines to Europe: L'Avion (EWR-ORY), Silverjet, and Eos. MaxJet may not make it financially, but it's another possibility. The prices are very reasonable.

Thank you thank you...I just finished talking to a rep...he said only 30,ooo can be bought per person and unless I wait until January to get more....

A Delta rep?? S/he should consult his/her own company's website:

* You can purchase up to 50,000 miles per calendar year in increments of 1,000.
* Purchased miles are applicable toward all SkyMiles awards.
* The cost is $0.0275 USD per mile plus a 7.5% Federal Excise Tax. An additional 6% Goods and Services Tax (GST) applies to purchases by Canadian residents.
* We accept American Express, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and Diners Club.

In fact, Delta has a "sale" on at the moment in which you can get a bonus of either 15% or 20% of purchased miles - i.e., buy 10,000, get 12,000.

Patty ..you are so right about the partners but they reprimanded me...I did get a 3200 BC ticket and a free miles coach and l'Avion for both of us(business) would only be 2600....however there are no award tickets for TPA to Newark....on the dates..and tickets are 350 and up so have to add another 700 and your back up to over 3200...
They want me to call every day....I guess I will if I want to go ..they are banking that I wont.....

A friend of mine gave me 150,000. Delta miles this year. That gave us 1 free Business class seat on Singapore-the only thing we had to do was leave 1 day early. (I then bought my ticket and got 150% of miles on Delta)
Also when they say there are no upgrade seats be patient-I go on a wait list if no seats are not available now.

Deltas rate of sucesss for redeeming miles for upgrade is 48%.. Americans is 61%

A caution about the upgrade thing. The LA Times travel ombudsman recently wrote a column on this topic. According to the ombudsman, if you read the various airline program rules carefully, you "may" upgrade but the upgraded seat is not guaranteed. If the airline changes the aircraft for your flight which results in fewer seats in your upgrade class, you will be bumped in favor of those paying the full fare for that class. If your flight is cancelled, there may not be available seats in your upgrade class for many hours or even days. You can surrender and fly in coach, but there will probably be fees to return the upgrade miles to your account. If you are able to fly one segment of your journey in the upgraded class, the battle with the airline to get some of your upgrade miles back will be even more difficult.
