Ok but a few of the Brits'comments right at the start were IMO just plain rude and meant to incite - and then as usual when one person is rude there is the piling on effect and others chime in

I've seen this again and again with yes new posters not so familiar with the rules and the Fodor's police. Lighten up and understand that a new poster is not trying to raise anyone hackles

make you point politely that answers were given before and that's that - why become so rude?

A common thing with FodorGarchs - attitude they should lose and put them in the role of a novice poster sincerely asking questions - maybe clumsily so but with no bad intention.

The sad part is that many of those rude FodorGarchs give excellent advice - advice you would be hard pressed to get from guidebooks, etc.

And you are not the only novice poster i've seen end up practically in tears - it is endemic and i've cried out against it many times - yet it falls on deaf ears (of perhaps mute) FodorGarchs.

OK off my Speaker's Cornersoap box

Well, I've read all the posts another 3 times and I still can't see anything I would call rude. I just wish people were as nice to me when I make a mistake!!

Is it groundhog day"

No. But it WAS groundhog day (seriously!) the last time you asked this question.

And the answers haven't changed.>

you do not find that a tad rude

and it appears the answers in this new thread have been quite different than in the old disappeared thread.

As I said I don't find any of it rude (maybe some of the OP's comments, if I have to find something), seems to be more a case of someone with a "short fuse" not willing to admit that they've made a mistake/not been too bright.

"<i>and it appears the answers in this new thread have been quite different than in the old disappeared thread.</i>"

Huh? The original thread w/ several detailed answers is still there . . . .

The OP thought we were just great/hunky dory/terrific over on that thread -- good deeds get slapped down once again.
