Stansted to Bergerac

We are flying in to London Heathrow and were considering taking Ryanair from Stansted to Bergerac. Does anybody have any experience with this?

As long as you follow the Ryanair rules, you will get no surprises (extra fees). If it is a late afternoon flight and you arrive in Heathrow in the morning, you should have plenty of time to transfer from one airport to the other via airport bus. That is what we did a few years back to go to Porto.

I took this flight a year or two ago, and it's fine. You do have weight restrictions, and there is no flexibility. Either you follow the rules or you pay.

You arrive in Bergerac, a tiny airport, but very easy to get around.

There is no seat selection, although you can pay extra for 'preferred seating.' That means you get to go on first, so have a better choice. But it's only an hour, so really, who cares?

The train fare out to Stansted from central London is quite expensive so factor that into your plans (it's called the Stansted Express and there is also a bus which will take longer). Also the initial fare you see on Ryanair's website will not be remotely similar to the fare you end up paying. If you haven't already, try your booking all the way through without putting your credit card details in and see, with each click of the mouse, how the price increases substantially. Then you'll know roughly what the true cost is.

I agree - despite all the cheap fares that come up, it cost me as much to fly Ryanair as it would have to go with a regular airline. However, the Bergerac/Stansted route happened to suit me, since I live in the Dordogne, and have family near Stansted. But it's worth checking.
