Stansted lodging

Hiya,
We will be EasyJetting out of Stansted airport early one morning in April and would appreciate hearing of any nice accommodations within reasonable range (taxi or van if available) to the airport. Hotels, B&Bs, rooms over pubs...doesn't matter as long as it's comfy and reasonably convenient to the airport (and to transport to central London if possible but not as important.) We are two- to three-star types but again, not a critical factor. Thanking you in advance...

Look at the Hilton (via their website, look for specials, or discount booking agencies). To my knowledge it is the only hotel within the perimeter of the airport itself. We had planned to stay there, but switched to an afternoon flight instead of an early morning one.

Thanks, Patrick.

Any others?

Gardyloo, look at this site: www.stanstedairport-hotels.com
It shows a list of all (?) the hotels near the airport and even shows the exact distance of each to the airport. There are also apparently links for discount booking. I haven't used the site, but it sure gives a good overview of what's available.

I have tried to do it. I flew in and out of Stansted a few times a year for 4 years. It's a nightmare. I eventually gave in and opted for fnding somewhere nice nearer my destination. There is NOWHERE within a close distance to teh airport.

Sheila, are you telling us that Hilton at the airport is a dump??
