Stansted Airport---Accomodation

Can anyone suggest a decent, affordable place to stay for one night by Stansted airport? I'm leaving early in the morning, so I just really need a decent place to rest for one evening.
Many thanks!
The results are amusing. Nobody has put together a single website for hotels in or near Bishops Stortford, a town which has avoided that plethora of large and ugly hotels that marks and mars Heathrow and Gatwick. So you have a choice between the fourteenth century (the George) and the nineteenth century (the rest). I should pick the George, centrally placed, full of character, and with beds from the late twentieth century (not the fourteenth).

http://www.avaweb.co.uk/hertfordshire/georen11.html is the site for the George Hotel in the centre of Bishops Stortford, 8 miles from the airport.
http://www.kayukay.co.uk/bishopsstortfordhotels.html shows the Pines Hotel, Stansted Mountfichet, 6 miles from the airport.
Both are small and old, and a fast ride by taxi or train to the airport.
http://www.databrowse.co.uk/hotels/H...Stortford.html shows Holmesdale, a bed and breakfast house in a single-pub village, whose owner will drive you the 15 minute run to the airport.
http://www.bhrc.co.uk/hotel_details.asp?est_cd=E70 covers the Laurels Guest House, a lasrghe Victorian villa in Stansted, shich provides a courtesy car for the guests from 8.30am to 11pm to and from the airport. At other hours you'd book a taxi.
http://www.s-h-systems.co.uk/a52512.html covers Anglesey Guest House, a similar villa in Bishops Stortford, 3 miles from the M11 Airport Junction, 10 minutes by car.
http://www.routiers.co.uk/scripts/re...EAST%20ENGLAND covers Pearse House, a Victorian mansion in Bishops Stortford, 5 miles from the airport
http://www.hotelbook.com/static/welcome_01215.html#top covers the Down Hasll hotel, 11 minutes from the airport

Please write if I can help further.

Ben Haines, London

I stayed at the George in Bishop's Stortford to catch an early flight from Stansted last Summer. If I recall, single room was £25 or £30 incl. VAT and breakfast.

Thanks kindly Ben and Don for your advice. At least now I have a few options to look into.
