Stans switzerland
 

Because of a festival I am having trouble finding a room in Lucerne on Saturday, June 4th. On June 5th and 6th the hofgarten is 300chf and the alps is 285. I can get a b&b but still only for Sunday and Monday night. So, we will be coming from Lauterbrunnen and plan to stop in Engelberg on the way so what if we stayed in Stans or some other town outside of Lucerne for Saturday night? Does anyone have any thoughts on one of the towns outsid of Lucerne .

For just one night, Stans would be quite nice if you ascended the Stanserhorn with the newish Cambrio (open-air upper deck of Gondola which takes you to the top.)Rotating raised dais in the restaurant at the top. Pretty views all around.
Otherwise, a pretty town, but not sure how well-connected to Transport (or do I recall that you will be driving?)

Stans is on the Lucerne to Engleberg railway so has excellent connections to both Interlaken (via the scenic Brunig Pass rail line) and Lucerne.

We will have a car.

Some years ago I actually stayed for a full week in Stans and found it to be an excellent base for day trips as well as activities that started right there. A very pleasant, less touristy town.
