Stamp Dealers in Paris
 

I colelct French stampless and 19th century covers and there is chance i will be visiting Paris in July. We have not been there since 1999.

Has anyone had dealings with a stamp dealer in Paris with whom they are confident?

Most of the reputable stamp dealers in Paris are located on rue de Richelieu and a few surrounding streets. You will see stamps in every shop window.

There's a stamp market in the 8th. It was pictured in the film Charade.

Yes, it does indeed exist on the Cours Marigny, but since Aduchamp1 seems to be into serious business, I do not think that this is the place. If you pass by there, you will find that most of the dealers are now mostly devoted to collectible phone cards.

Some of the stamp dealers are located in the annex to the Salle Drouot on rue Drouot (still in the rue de Richelieu area). As the Salle Drouot is the #1 official auction house in France, you can't get much more serious than this.

However, my only personal experience is with an excellent gold dealer at the same location. My god, it was the first time that anyone ever pulled 500 euro notes out of his pockets and handed them to me. (As I was selling a company gift that most of my colleagues had also received, some of them got as little as 150 euros for the item at other dealers and were appalled when they learned that they had been robbed.)
