St. Remy OR Lourmarin - HELP Please !

I have 4 days to spend in Provence, 2 of which will be in Verdon. I'm not able to decide if the other 2 should be spent in the Luberon area (Lourmarin) or in St. Remy. Suggestions Please.....

Both good choices.

St Remy would be better if you want to see the Pont du Gard, Arles, Les Baux.

Lourmarin better placed for the Luberon and Aix.

In any case, they are only maybe 45 minutes apart. So you can't go wrong either way.

St Remy by far, IMHO. Lourmarin is not that centrally located. To get to the "heart" of the Luberon (Gordes, Bonnieux) from Lourmarin, you need to drive through the Combe de Lourmarin, which is scenic but my wife refuses to drive it at night. Lots of twists & turns. It takes more time than you might think to do this. Lourmarin is closer to Aix, but St Remy is closer to Ales, Uzes, Pont du Gard, Vaison, the lavender fields near Sault, Avignon, les Baux, markets in l'Isle sur la Sorgue & Carpentras, & Rhone wine growing region.

If the choices were St Remy or Gordes, I would pick Gordes because I think the area around Gordes is more scenic.

Do you have my 20+ itinerary about Provence & Cote d'Azur. E-mail me at [email protected] if you want a copy.

Thanks for the tips. As I later found out, all these villages are so close-by, hopefully it will not make a big difference where I am based at.

Every year, we stay near St Remy and take a day trip to Lourmarin for me to go to a favorite shop.
Enjoy the Gorge, it's spectacular.
Visit St Croix if you have time.

I have to ask--what is your favorite shop in Lourmarin? We are staying just outside Lourmarin and I don't want to miss anything!
