I think St. Remy and night life might be an oxymoron... Go for the sights, go for the Joel Durand chocolates but leave the nightlife for elsewhere.

Which is why I'm spending a couple nights in Avignon.

But then again, what is your definition of nightlife?

St Remy struck me as a very sleepy town in the daytime - can't imagine there'd be any but the odd cafe open at night. which is why i too would stay in Avignon or Arles!

You do not go to St. Remy for the nightlife. You go to relax. After a nice dinner, you go sit or read a book and then go to sleep. You want nightlife, go to Paris or one of the larger cities in Provence.

Stay at Chateau des Alpilles and spend your night life at an outdoor table under the trees listening to frogs and meeting your fellow travelers.
