I just noticed that you are planning a June visit. It is a very popular travel time because of the blooming lavender, so you better get cracking.

Sorry for the long delay in replying to your question regarding the room name.

Actually, there was no name when I was there. This was the description of the room they sent me on email:

1-deluxe room located first floor with a large bed. Bathroom and separate toilets , view on the garden and the Alpilles chain . RATE : 153 euros Buffet breakfast included

This is a great thread, especially since my first two choices are full. Good to know that people are still traveling though!

We stayed at the Chateau des Alpilles, right outside Ste. Remy, in October 2007. Lovely! It's a bit of a walk, maybe 30 mins. to town, so we drove in. Make sure you go to Joel Durand for chocolates and Le Petite Duc for other goodies.

Well, I loved the Chateau de Roussan. Glad to see it's being renovated. I'd thought it simply closed. Would love to go back someday...

As many of you write, loved (past tense) the Chateau de Roussan and stayed there often, but the last time we checked-out after one night because it was so dirty and run-down. If you look at the updated website (www.chateauderoussan.com), it looks as if the renovation is going magnificently. When completed, I think that they'll give the nearby Chateau des Alpilles a real run for their money. It would be wonderful, however, if their room rates are substantially less than the latter. I'd like to go back later this year and check it out.

Another vote for the Atelier. It is a converted movie theater and one of the most beautiful, cool and chic hotels I've ever been to. Was there in 2006-- wonderful people, great rooms, great breakfasts and the most beautiful grounds and swimming pool. A real gem.

I vote for Atelier. Beautiful place. Air conditioned. Very comfortable beds and bedding.
