St. Remy de Provence Update
We have travelled to St. Remy many times over the last 17 years. We missed going in 2008 but are returning in 2009.
Could some fellow traveller update us on new restaurants and other changes that mnay have occurred there in the last two years? I presume the weekly market is still on Wednesday morning ,n'est ce pas? Thanks in advance. Anthony |
We are going in September and are interested in moderately priced restaurants.
Thanks, Evelyn |
I am in Paris for a month stay, but decided to add a touch of Provence and took the TGV down last Mon. and returned on Thursday. How great the TGV is!! Picked up my car and drove to a favorite spot of mine www.riboto-de-taven-fr in Les Baux.
I have been many times before. I presume that you will have a car? If you want an exceptional meal and abeautiful place, do call Riboto and see if you can go. They take guests first, but may well have space for you. Yes, it is still Wed. market. I was there this past Wed. and had lunch at a good place where Ribotot had made reservations for me. All the stores on the many weaving "inner" streets have wonderful shopping, too. The area is still a different world..most especially where I am so fond of, in Les Baux....quiest, peaceful, beaautiful Alpilles...take the drive from the D99 to the D27 and to Les Baux..some super views. Go to Maussane and all the great places around the area. Take a look at my running trip report with the many pictures. It might be helpful. Enjoy... Joan |
We had a good meal at Saveurs de Provence, address 51 rue Carnot 13210 Saint Remy. It's moderately priced, small restaurant, not posh but the food very good.

Thanks Joan and Odin,
We had a nice meal at la Source in 07, but it is gone. Your two suggestions look promising. We will have a car. This link worked for Riboto: http://www.riboto-de-taven.fr/anglais.htm Evelyn |
Joan,
Thanks for your reply. Who or what is "riboto?" I could not pick up your link. We will have a car and may go up to Salte and environs and see the early lavender. We will be in St. Remy from June 9 to the 17th, bookended between two four-day trips to Paris. If I can be of help to any travelers just drop a question. Anthony (powellretired) |
Here is the website for Riboto-de-Taven
http://www.riboto-de-taven.fr/ It is a place that I enjoy. Enjoyed my recent stay with them. Hopefully they will come to Paris in Nov/Dec when I am here. A different world there... Joan |
Unless it gets really unseasonably hot between now & June 17, you won't see much color (if any) in the lavender fields around Sault (note spelling). When we drove through the lavender fields on the Valensole plane in mid June, the lavender was blooming more than it was around Sault.
In '07 we were near Sault for 4 weeks and the lavender really didn't get much color till the last week in June - but that was a cooler than normal spring/early summer. Stu Dudley |
