St-Remy-de-provence hotels
 

I'm not sure this posted correctly a few minutes ago, so I'll try again: I will be in Provence in June and would like to stay in St-remy-de_provence. I am considering several hotels that seem to be in my price range. Has anyone stayed at any of these? Are they fairly close (walking distance) from the center of town?
The hotels are:
Hotel du Soleil, Castelet-alpilles, Villa Glanum

Castelet is a five minute walk to St Remy. No restaurant there.
Request a bath/wc all rooms don't have them. You'll be near Glanum, a must see.

There's no separate post area for France--everything winds up under Europe. But you can search for just France or for something like St-Rémy.

I stayed at Hotel du Soleil last June (the later part) and liked it. It was quiet and an easy walk to town. There was a pool and breakfast was served on a lovely patio. The only problem was that our room was hot and there was only a portable fan for cooling. You may be comfortable there in early June, but I wish we had had air conditioning since it was unusually hot last summer in France.

June is a wonderful time to be in Provence since the lavender and sunflowers begin to bloom then.

Not trying to hijack, but since we are discussing St. Remy hotels, can someone make a recomendation for a hotel that is IN the town?

grantop. there is Les Antiques and l'Hotel de L'Image. I think Villa Glanum is in town.

There is a lovely farmhouse ("Mas") nearby called Domaine de Bournissac - written up in Travel & Leisure a couple years ago, IT'S VERY NICE. It's in Eyragues; you can do a websearch and find their website.

good suggestion and the food there is very good.

Flygirl, I know you really do fly a plane. Would you , one day, like to fly yourself to Paris?

The hotel Les Antiques, in town, is now closed. It's been sold to a private buyer and apparently won't be a hotel any longer.

The Ateliers de l'Image is right in town and has rooms in different buildings at varying prices. It also has A/C and a pool.

The Castelet is a two minute walk into the main part of town.... and the Villa Glanum is quite a hike - it's out by the ruins of Glanum.

I just posted another reply about St Remy hotels. You have probably firmed up your plans now. We stayed in the Hotel Villa Glanum last summer (June) and loved it. We did have a car (it has a secure outdoor parking lot) - but it is a convenient stroll (1/2 mile?) to the center of town.
copied from my earlier post: The grounds and pool area are lovely. I felt like I was in heaven breakfasting in the courtyard. The pictures on their website don't do it justice. We had a room with french doors that opened out to the pool area. It is cheaper than many of the other St Remy hotels. I made quick visits to many of them while touring around in town and I was happy we had ended up at Villa Glanum. We loved having a pool (our teenagers were along). The website:

Hotel du Soleil - right in town

I stayed at the Castelet-Alphilles last summer. Some rooms have A/C some don't. I had a room facing front of hotel that did not have A/C but had gigantic swing open windows. There was always a nice breeze and room was always very cool. This hotel has a large fenced-in parking lot that is free and as the others have said it is only a few minutes walk into the center of town. Supermarket a block away on the way into town. No restaurant as such but a big dining room that does serve breakfast. I would stay there again.

I am sooo greatful for you guys and this website! I have been hunting my little guts out trying to find a great SRdP hotel...and I should have known to also check this site first. Thanks for all the great information. The hotels mentioned above look DELUXE!
