Has anyone used a driver-guide in St Petersburg that they would reccomend?

Dolce, how would you get around the city? Do they have a subway, good bus service??

The metro is your best bet. The buses and trolleys are pretty good, but they can be confusing. It is also quite easy to get a "private" taxi, just stick out your hand. You need to speak Russian pretty well to avoid paying an inflated fare, or be a woman. Also do not try this close to tourist areas; walk 2-3 blocks away and you'll save lots of $$.

You should definitely use a metro, don't drive there. Look for the tour buses, they might speak English.
