St. Pancras station or Leicester?
 

I'm taking a day-tour with a train company and I can either leave london at St. Pancras or Leicester station. The tour returns into London at around 7:30-8:00pm. <BR><BR>Which would be a safer staion to be in at that time of night? It will just be two females, so we wanted the safest choice.

Some confusion here, I think. You would take a train from London St Pancras to go to Leicester, which is a city in the Midlands - you don't say where this tour is going, but if it's somewhere in the East Midlands, it might be that they're offering pick-ups in two completely different cities.<BR><BR>St Pancras is next to Kings Cross, and the area is scruffy, but to get from St Pancras station into the Underground should be OK - there will be crowds of people there (presumably other people will be coming off the tour train).

Oh - so this wouldn't be Leicester station in London then? The company I am using is Midland Mainline, and the day tour is going out toward Derbyshire. <BR><BR>It seems I have no other option than going to St. Pancras!

No Anne - Leicester Square tube station in London is not Leicester station which is in the city of Leicester 100 miles north of London.

Don't worry about safety at that time in the evening. At 7:30-8pm, there will still be a lot of people around, including the tag end of the commuters heading home.<BR><BR>I feel perfectly safe on my own in any station in London as late as midnight, so don't have any fears on that account. You will be fine.

I'll second Anna's response. St Pancras is next door to Kings Cross Tube station, which is the busiest on the network. It's not exactly glamorous round there but it will be teaming with people, and like Anna, I never feel unsafe being alone in that area.
